MMC for Development and Planning Councillor Mokete Motsamai met and engaged with Midvaal farmers and persons involved in the agricultural sector on the 5th of August.

The source told the Reporter that the purpose of this interactive engagement session  was to give progress on the formation of the Midvaal Farmers Association and to further communicate the intention of the association; The programmes and projects that will be implemented by the association. The officials from the Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Midvaal Farmers Association Interim Committee, Local Stakeholders and Farmers joined the launch.

In the spirit of Women’s Month, the MMC furthermore encouraged female farmers to take the opportunities presented to them. They should not underestimate their potential with the belief that agriculture is a male-dominated industry. We are committed to providing quality services and support to emerging farmers specifically in this new South Africa as they can incorporate and share experiences to grow the industry.

We will continue to support our farmers to contribute immensely to the triple challenges of poverty, inequality and unemployment “said MMC.
