Rand Water is calling on Emfuleni, Midvaal and other Gauteng municipalities to ensure effective monitoring of water limit implementations amid increased consumption. The entity says municipalities should impose water restrictions through their by-laws.
Spokesperson Makenosi Maroo says there are approximately 17-million people in municipalities supplied by Rand Water. Maroo says the bulk water provision to municipalities has increased from 4300 million-litres to 4900-million-litres per day and warned municipalities and consumers to use water sparingly.
