Students from Sebokeng were involved in a scholar transportation accident on the 7th September, leaving one dead. The Gauteng Department of Education issued a media statement, informing the public with regret that eight learners from the Dinokaneng Secondary School were involved in the accident in the morning, leaving one dead, three hospitalised and four sustaining minor injuries.

The incident allegedly occurred at the hostel pickup point, where the learners were reportedly hit by another scholar transportation bus while boarding. According to the statement, the learners were rushed to a local medical facility, where one of the learners succumbed to injuries sustained during the accident.

Speaking to the Department spokesperson Mr Steve Mabona, He told the reporter.today  that the local SAPS have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. He also said a psycho-social team has been sent to the school to provide counselling to students and teachers.
