On the 29th of August, Monday morning the residents of Sasolburg in Zamdela were left without electricity as their Electrical pole was cut down  leaving the local residents without electricity. The source told the reporter.today that  Executive Mayor of the Metsimaholo Local Municipality, Jeff Zwane, says cable theft is not only tarnishing the image of the municipality, but it is also inconveniencing the community.

Mr Jeff Zwane furthermore spoke on the issue of cable theft and the recent interruptions in the electricity supply. This is after parts of the municipality were recently left without electricity for more than three days. Zwane says the scourge of cable theft can only be hampered if community members work together, he also sent out a plea to the community asking for their help in taking care of municipal properties and infrastructure, because the police cannot be everywhere all the time.
