The South African Police Services year in Lenasia South has commenced with murder case investigation following this afternoon’s gruesome discovery of a dead young female in an open veld in Lenasia South.

At around 4.45pm, a member of the public who had gone to the open veld near Daxina Medical Clinic to dump garbage, made the gruesome discovery of the dead body dumped in the open veld. He immediately alerted the local police.

Lenasia South SAPS spokesperson Sgt Khalipha Mvula spoke briefly and said “Upon examining the body, it was established that the deceased had her throat slit with what is suspected to have been a sharp object. The deceased is a young African female estimated to be in her early twenties. Her identity has not yet been established at this stage and the motive behind her murder is unknown. Members of the public who might have a missing loved one are urged to visit the Lenasia South police station for assistance with arrangements to go and identify the body at the government mortuary.”

This is a second discovery of a deceased body of a female within the area following the discovery of a decomposing body late last year on a mountaintop in Vlakfontein.
