Group of mercy helps several communities such as Rus-ter-vaal, Roshnee, Springcal , Dream land informal settlements of Ramaphosa and Sobukwe to mention but a few.
The program was established in 2008 by Mrs Da Silva and Aunt Thembi. They saw a need in helping children who were left to head families due to HIV pandemic. That is when the program was established.
It is thirteen years since the establishment of the program and it has grown. Presently we have three groups which are running concurrently in assisting the community in various areas.
The program is feeding an average of one-hundred house-holds every month by offering food parcels, in other programs we do home based HIV testing and screening helping community members with home affairs and Sassa needs.
Aunt Thembi also told The Reporter that they recently helped one person in getting disability grant.
We therefore would like to plead with the community members to continue to support our programs and services. She also added that they would love to have enough in-house space in the future for the activities in the program taking into account weather conditions such as rain and the cold.
