
Zamdela Station Commander, Colonel Mohiti Sereetsi, Social Crime Prevention Unit, Community Police Forum (CPF) and members from the South African National Civic Organization (SANCO) held a community outreach awareness campaign at Sector 4, Ditamating on Wednesday.
Zamdela Police spokesperson, Sergeant Josephine Rani, said in a statement Social Crime Prevention Coordinator, Warrant Officer Lehlohonolo Mokoena, addressed the community on prevalent crimes in the area such as theft of copper, buying of stolen goods and illegal occupation of vacant houses.
Colonel Sereetsi furthermore addressed the community not to resort to taking the law into their own hands. They were encouraged to make use of the various platforms to provide the police with information about crime. Residents were further encouraged to form part of the community patrollers in the area and were issued with pamphlets on crime safety tips.
