Setjhwatla malapa tavern in zone six Sebokeng was raided by Sebokeng police earlier today. The illegal tavern started operating at the beginning of level one of lockdown period. The place is mostly known for stokvels and Sunday music sessions. Residents have been complaining about this place for some time,they do not sleep throughout the weekend ever since this place started operating, residents say there has been a lot of robberies and rapes taking place around the area. During the police operation it was discovered that the operational licence was fraudulent.
The police promised the residents that they will make it their duty to see to it that the place does not operate illegally.Some residents were concerned that they might have a hard time especially with the Christmas season so close.
The police confiscated four fullbakkie loads of alcohol.
The owner of the place is a female and she worked at Ferrero factory in Midvaal. She was dismissed from work and that is when she decided to start the liquor business.
She has been arrested for using fake documents to sell alcohol.
