The source told the Reporter that the Gauteng Roads and Transport MEC Jacob Mamabolo, is leading the smart revolution in patching potholes across the province, including those in Emfuleni Local Municipality.

The road’s set to be rehabilitated in  Vanderbijlpark are Boulevard, Frikkie Meyer Boulevard, DF Malan street, General Smuts street, Hendrick van Eck Boulevard, Jan van Riebeeck Boulevard, Louis Trichardt Boulevard, Piet Retief Boulevard, Rossini Boulevard and Westinghouse Boulevard. In Vereeniging are Hofmeyer Avenue, Jimmy Sinclair Street, Lewis Avenue, Skippie Botha Road, Van Riebeeck Street, Langrand Road, Majuba Street, Viviers Avenue and Voortrekker Street.

Assegai Street, Zambesi Street, Hawthorne Street, Brand Muller Drive, Dee Drive, Golf Road, Mario Milani Drive and Rhodes Avenue in Three Rivers will also be refurbished.

The roads in Evaton and Sebokeng that are set for rehabilitation are Rabotapi Street, Union Road, Boundary Road and Adams Road.

In Sharpeville Vilakazi Street, Zwane Street and Lekoa Street are also set to be refurbished.

The MEC says due to the urgent need to fix Gauteng’s roads, the work will be intensified during weekends and includes the rehabilitation of damaged bridges. Mamabolo acknowledges that the pandemic had caused devastation to the road network in terms of accumulated backlogs.
