Metsimaholo Executive Mayor, Cllr Jeff Zwane, addressed marchers last week Friday who committed themselves in fighting the abuse of drugs in Metsimaholo. In a statement, Zwane says drug abuse has no boundaries; it cuts across all races and age groups and is a very serious challenge that families have to deal with.
He encourages drug users, their families and friends to seek help from the Department of Social Development and the Department of Health. Various programmes, which are run by both government and external stakeholders, are available in order to assist those that need help.
Zwane continued to say that the Metsimaholo Local Municipality also plays a pivotal role by making the necessary referrals for families in need. The police are working hard in apprehending drug dealers. Zwane furthermore mentioned that the fight needs all hands on deck and the community needs to assist the police by being their eyes and ears and to report incidents.
