Palm Springs, Thabong complex and several shops in Sebokeng were left in a bad state after being looted. On the 14th July 2021 businesses lost a lot of equipment and grocery supplies as the community invaded those malls and shops. The loss is estimated to run into millions of rands.
Dimakatso Tshabalala one of the employees at Built it in Thabong complex told the Reporter that the looting left them jobless and even now we don’t even know whether we will get back to work or if our jobs are still safe and if we still have jobs, she concluded.
