We have decided to create the online version of our newspaper to increase accessibility regardless of where Vaal residents might be living now. It is the mission of the reporter to create local employment and engagement in the Vaal whilst publishing content that is superior and locally sourced. In order to achieve this goal, we rely on the support of partners and well-wishers.

The Reporter print edition had a cover price of R2,50. Whilst this falls way short of operational requirements, the idea was to instill pride in a homegrown product and, in our small way, encourage reading in our community. At a time when we are bombarded with information from thousands of sources, it is important to be able to access information that is relevant to our everyday lives.

We want to work with journalism students and writers from The Vaal to give a voice to the forgotten and the less heard.
