
The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure in the Free State says it is pleased with the progress made by the new contractor appointed for the construction of Katleho Mpumelelo School in Sasolburg. Over the last two years. The department has re-aligned project management processes and capacity to insure better project delivery.
The department prioritized the completion of old projects that had been delayed for various reasons. The department says the construction progress at Katleho Mpumelelo School is accelerating. The project will be completed in 2023 as a contributor to job creation and skill transfer in the implementation and execution of infrastructure projects. The department has managed to create work opportunities in the area, including those for the local businesses.
Katleho Mpumelelo School has classrooms, a store, a science lab, an admin block, Grade R classes, and a hall. The school facility is also fire safe, a fire hydrant system was built into the design. There is also a caterer’s flat, a tuck shop, and showers included in the school’s development.
