The Economic Freedom Fighters- (EFF) leader Mr. Julius Malema has criticised the ruling party the African National Congress (ANC) for only attending commemorations in Sharpeville during Human Rights Day and not helping residents by providing basic human rights and services in Sharpeville.
He made the remarks during his speech on Thursday the 21st of March 2019 at the EFF`s commemoration rally near the Dlomo Dam in Sharpeville. The EFF leader said that the public holiday is an opportunity for the country to celebrate the real heroes of South Africa who fought for freedom and democracy of black people.
Julius Malema said that it was the founder of the Pan Africanist Congress (PAC) and the man who led the masses of people in the 1960 march to burn their pass books, Mr. Robert Sobukwe, who should have been the president of South Africa.
He said that it was only the Pan African Congress (PAC) that was at the forefront in the battle against black oppression. The EFF leader said that the true history of the Sharpeville massacre has not been told.
He said that he really sympathises with the people of Sharpeville who only see the African National Congress during such events.
