This accident happened on Wednesday, 07th of September at about 04:45am, at Boy Louw and Carbon road intersection Steel Park, Vereeniging. It is alleged that a police marked vehicle travelling on K55 road from Sharpeville towards Steel park area with police members officially on duty conducting their official duties collided with a truck.

At the four way crossing of Boy Louw and Carbon road the police vehicle stopped, and as they were crossing a truck, travelling from Sebokeng direction to Vereeniging suddenly emerged travelling at high speed. The truck driver alleges that the brakes of the truck failed and the truck failed to stop at a visible stop sign and drove into a state vehicle and dragged it for about plus/minus 500metres until it came to a standstill next to the ditch on the other side of the road.

The three Police officers were trapped inside police vehicle. Emergency Medical services were summoned to the scene and used jaws of life to free the three trapped police officials inside the bakkie. Because of the accident, the three members succumbed to their injuries on the scene. “Said Sergent Motsapi speaking to the reporter.today on Wednesday.

 The Truck driver was immediately arrested on the scene; he will soon appear at the Vereeniging Magistrate’s Court facing charges of culpable homicide, reckless and negligent driving.
