Tlholo Primary School English teacher, Mojalefa Mofokeng is elated after his six learners who represented the school at the Phendulani Literacy Quiz Competition garnered 1st position against Chief
Bambatha Primary, Itsebeng Primary, Makapane Primary and Seeiso Primary.
“The competition was a great exercise for the kids as it not only enhanced their vocabulary but it also created the love for reading. Over the past three months, I have observed how much these kids were excited to exchange books and start reading a new one. And those who were not chosen to participate in this quiz were also keen to join in reading and I had to make copies of some books so as to accommodate those who wanted to join the team that I have selected,” said Mofokeng.
“They are quite smarties. Infact it was hard to choose only six learners, because I have more brilliant kids, I had to make my own school level quiz so to come up with this team that represented the school at the district level,” he added.
The literacy quiz school competition was hosted by the Sedibeng West District with the aim of creating the love of reading at an early age.
