Vaal residents have been left in distress due to numerous incomplete government projects. The Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development, as well as the contractor have left the whole Rus-ter-vaal community broken and subcontractors broke.
According to Gauteng MEC for Infrastructure Development, The source told the Reporter that the MEC tried her

best to spin her way out of the messy fruitless expenditure and incompetent performance by her department in the Vaal.

The community of the Vaal are seeking answers to the following questions:

•What happened to “Broad-based” in BBBEE?

•Why does the GPG appoint companies from Johannesburg, Pretoria and Ekurhuleni to rollout projects in the Vaal when we do have competent and qualifying companies within the Vaal?

This also include the below stated unfinished projects and some that never took off.

Vereeniging Taxi Rank, Zone 7 Licencing Service Centre, Sedibeng Water Treatment Project, Vaal River City, Vaal Logistical Hub and the slow delivery of houses. The source furthermore said that the memories of the community is that all these happened under the stewardship of the Premier, David Makhura. As his term is ending, what is it that he has achieved for the benefit of the Vaal residents? That question is still to be answered.
